Halar® Coating Services (ETFE)

Halar® Coating Services (ETFE) offers metal components exposed to harsh conditions a protective coating that is both chemically resistant and extremely durable. A kind of Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) fluoropolymer, Halar® creates a robust and consistent barrier that shields surfaces from high temperatures, chemicals, corrosion, and moisture. This coating is extensively utilized in industries where equipment is frequently subjected to severe working conditions and harsh chemicals.

In order to guarantee superior adherence and uniform thickness over the surface, the coating is applied using a specific procedure. Halar® coating provides exceptional resistance to abrasion, acids, and solvents while retaining long-term functionality. In industries where dependable corrosion protection is crucial, such as chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, water treatment, and manufacturing, it is frequently used for tanks, valves, pumps, pipes, fasteners, and industrial equipment.

Key Features:

  • Excellent chemical and corrosion resistance
  • Strong adhesion and uniform coating thickness
  • High impact and abrasion resistance
  • Non-porous and smooth surface finish
  • Suitable for high temperature and harsh environments

Applications:

Commonly used for tanks, pumps, valves, pipes, fasteners, agitators, and industrial equipment used in chemical plants, pharmaceutical industries, water treatment facilities, and other demanding environments requiring strong corrosion protection.

Coating Process:

  • Surface Preparation: The metal components are thoroughly cleaned to remove oil, grease, dust, and other contaminants. After cleaning, grit blasting is performed to create a rough surface that helps the coating bond strongly with the metal.
  • Pre-Heating: The prepared components are pre-heated in an oven to the required temperature. Pre-heating ensures proper melting and adhesion of the Halar® powder during coating.
  • Powder Application: The ETFE (Halar®) powder is applied to the heated component using a fluidized bed or electrostatic spray process. The powder melts and forms a uniform coating layer on the surface.
  • Curing / Melting: The coated components are heated again so the powder fully melts and fuses with the surface, creating a strong, seamless, and durable protective layer.
  • Cooling and Inspection: Finally, the parts are cooled and carefully inspected to ensure proper thickness, smooth finish, and complete coating coverage.
